rcgbob44 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Brief history, I have a 1.9TDI Sport Ghia Galaxy on a 53 plate. Air con stops working, took car to Ford dealer who says the air con pump is U/s. Have local mechanic fit new pump, getr system re filled at ATS, all looks ok, no leaks. With the air con switched on the pump (clutch) is going on and off all the time so I have no cold air coming through. Any herlp and adsvice would really be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
gregers Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 are you sure they checked everything and there are no leaks??? it could be anything to do with the aircon system,do a search within the forum on aircon there has been a lot of posts overthe years on this subject and there may well be info posted which you may find helpful. sparky Paul Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Are you sure the system was given the correct fill of gas? If the pump is going on and off, it could be that the system pressure is dropping below the pressure switch low level when the pump runs. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 As well as the info given you may need to scan with VCDS you may have a pressure switch control relay clutch or wiring fault. Quote
seatkid Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Clutch going on/off all the time suggests the system has been overfilled. Did ATS give you a report with the weight of gas charged (grams)? - check this against the plate in your engine bay (near the bonnet release). You should use the lower quantity for a standard a/c system. The higher figure is only for vehicles with dual a/c systems (not dual temp control!) i.e. those fitted with roof vents in the rear passenger compartment and only one opening rear quarter window - its a rare option.
